HOW WE STARTED

 

 

National Safety, Inc. began over a cup of coffee between the general manager and four salesmen from Rice Safety. Rice Safety had been purchased by a large industrial supplier. Our expertise was in personal protective equipment so we set out to form a company that would concentrate exclusively on safety equipment. National Safety set up shop in a 5,000 square foot warehouse in Kent, WA in January of 1995 with the understanding that the customer is the sole reason for our existence.

 

In August of 1996 with a skill saw and a little sweat we doubled the size of our facility by renting out the adjacent warehouse and cutting a doorway through from one to the other. Over the following years several shareholders were bought out leaving the current president Dick Zugschwerdt and vice-president Ron Johnson. Continued growth has allowed us to buy our own facility - a 20,000 square foot warehouse we call home in 2006. Three delivery trucks fulfill orders out of our Kent warehouse every day at no cost to our customers.

 

In 2013, we purchased a small instrument repair company in Vancouver, Washington. We moved into our first location and adding safety equipment right away. With the added growth of the new customers, we were able to purchase a local delivery truck to service the SW Washington and Oregon market. We have added some key account managers and seasoned safety professionals to the team to provide first class service to our customers.

 

Fast forward to 2017 and we expanded our footprint again. We purchased Puget Safety in Bellingham. We added our local delivery service, seasoned safety professionals and inventory management skills to the area. Due to excellent growth, we were able to purchase a 6,000 sq ft building and tripled the size in the north end.

 

With the recent printing of our brand new catalog, vending solutions, inventory management, expanding ecommmerce division, system integrations for real time data and the ability to provide customized websites that will set us apart in the industry, we continue to listen to you. We still believe that customer service is what makes the difference between a good company and a great one. As we look to the future, we do so confident that we will continue to grow and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the industry.
